Giverny Tours

Giverny Map: the Street, the Entrances and the Station

A Giverny map is mostly one street. Rue Claude Monet runs through the village past the house, the museum, the painters’ inn and the church. Vernon and its station lie 5 km away across the Seine. Find your entrance and where your tour meets, then read Giverny ticket prices for what each fare covers.

Rue Claude Monet, end to end

Almost everything you come for is on one street. The house is at number 84. The Musée des impressionnismes is at 99, and the Ancien Hôtel Baudy at 81. Sainte-Radegonde church stands on the same street, with Monet’s grave in its churchyard.

Walk the street once before or after the gardens. It takes you past every stop in the table except the station.

The two entrances to the house and gardens

With a ticket, you go in by the individual entrance at 84 rue Claude Monet, next to the car park. The private walking tour meets you there.

Groups use the group entrance on the Sente Leroy. So do visitors with a disability card, who get priority entry there. Once inside, any exit is final, so do not step out to meet friends.

How the two gardens sit on the map

Giverny lies on the right bank of the Seine, where the River Epte joins it. The house faces the street, and the flower garden runs down from its steps. The water garden lies below that, on the other side of the old railway line.

Monet bought that lower plot in 1893 and fed his pond from the Ru, a small branch of the Epte. On a map you see the two gardens as one long strip, the flower beds above and the pond below. You cross from one to the other inside the site, so you never need the street.

Parking and the way in by car

The Fondation lists free car parks in Giverny, and bike parking in them. The individual entrance is next to the car park, so you walk straight from your car to the gate.

Weekends and public holidays are the days the Fondation asks you to book. Come early on those days.

Vernon and the station, across the Seine

Vernon is the town across the Seine, about 5 km from the house. Vernon-Giverny station is there, on the line from Paris Saint-Lazare to Rouen and Le Havre. The seasonal shuttle runs from the station, and the cycle path follows the river.

The tourist office is at 36 rue Carnot in Vernon. The old mill on the river and the Blanche Hoschedé-Monet museum are in the town too.

La Roche-Guyon and the Seine valley

La Roche-Guyon lies up the Seine from Giverny, on the way to Vétheuil. Its château sits against a chalk cliff above the river. One private day stops in the village on the way back to Paris.

Further east lies Auvers-sur-Oise, where Van Gogh is buried, and west of Paris the Palace of Versailles. The full-day tours drive you between them.
